The AmpRipper 4000 heatsink and fan add-on improves thermal efficiency of the AmpRipper’s charging and boost convert ICs. This add-on is great for users looking to maximize charge/discharge rates or to keep the unit cool in enclosures with little airflow. The 5VDC fan can be powered in several configurations, either directly by the AmpRipper or via an external power source. This add-on comes with everything needed for installation. Please see the adjacent video to learn how to install the heatsink properly.
The heatsink is recommended for continuous use while either charging or discharging at rates ≥2.5A. If you are charging & discharging at the same time, the heatsink would be recommended for a combined rate of ≥3A. The AmpRipper 4000 will throttle the charge rate if it detects overheating, so the device is still functional at these rates even without the heatsink. You may experience longer charge times, and the board may become hot to the touch.
Note: This heatsink and fan add-on is only compatible with the AmpRipper 4000, and is not designed to mount to the AmpRipper 3000.
